The GGRO banded a total of 1288 raptors from August 18th through December 31st, 1996. This number represents a dip in numbers from 1994 and 1995 and is the fourth highest banding total for the GGRO in our 14 seasons of banding. The lower number banded in 1996 was primarily due to the sharp fall-off in number of Sharp-shinned Hawks banded this autumn. Other species numbers were roughly equal to last year's.
